💥 FREELANCE DATA ENGINEER – LUCRATIVE RATES – REMOTE STOCKHOLM 💥
Location: Stockholm, Sweden (must be Stockholm-based)
Client: Leading Fintech Company – Sweden
Contract: Freelance / Contractor
Duration: 6–12 months (strong likelihood of extension)
Working Model: Fully Remote
Hybrid Option: Available if preferred
Daily Rate: SEK 3,500 – 5,000 per day (DOE)
About the Role
Our client are a well-established fintech company in Stockholm, delivering innovative digital payment solutions across Europe.
They are seeking a Data Engineer (Freelance) to join their data team on a long-term contract, ideally suited to an experienced freelancer who enjoys autonomy, ownership of data infrastructure, and working with cutting-edge technologies.
This position is fully remote, with optional hybrid working in Stockholm for those who prefer occasional on-site collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and high-performance data pipelines
- Implement ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers to enable data-driven decision-making
- Develop and maintain data warehouses and lakes using modern cloud platforms
- Optimise data processing workflows for performance and reliability
- Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across systems
- Participate in architecture discussions and provide best-practice guidance
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ commercial experience in data engineering
- Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and modern data processing frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools, data lakes, data warehouses
- Knowledge of Kafka, Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration tools
- Solid understanding of data modelling, pipelines, and analytics infrastructure
- Comfortable working in remote, cross-functional teams
- Proven experience working as a freelancer / contractor (mandatory)
- Must be based in Stockholm with legal ability to invoice as a freelancer
Nice to Have
- Experience with streaming data and real-time processing
- Exposure to Fintech or payment platforms
- Experience with containerisation / orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum environments
Language Requirements
- English: Professional working proficiency (written and spoken)
- Swedish: Advantageous but not required
