We are seeking an experienced Data Center Architect to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is responsible for designing, planning, and optimizing scalable, secure, and highly available data center and infrastructure environments that support mission-critical systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture standards, guide implementation, and ensure performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency across distributed environments.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a senior-level professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong architectural vision. We offer competitive compensation aligned with experience and market rates, along with the flexibility of remote work and the chance to contribute to complex, enterprise-scale infrastructure initiatives.

What Will You Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design for new data centers, expansions, retrofits, and mission-critical facilities
  • Develop concept designs, floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction documents (CDs)

  • Ensure designs meet requirements for:
    • Redundancy (N, N+1, 2N)
    • Cooling system performance
    • Power distribution and equipment clearances
    • Security and compliance (SOC, ISO, FISMA, etc.)
  • Manage site planning, zoning, permitting, and code compliance for building and fire regulations
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs from contractors
  • Participate in client meetings, programming, and design reviews
  • Conduct field visits to verify construction progress and adherence to architectural intent
  • Provide guidance on material selection, sustainability, and energy-efficient designs
  • Support budgeting, project schedules, and coordination with project management teams
  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to data center operational requirements

What You Will Need

Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect (RA) license in at least one U.S. state (NCARB certificate preferred)
  • Ability to become licensed in project states as required

Experience

  • 5–10+ years of architectural design experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of data center or mission-critical facility design
  • Demonstrated experience producing full architectural drawing sets and coordinating multidisciplinary design packages
  • Experience with construction administration for large technical or industrial buildings

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM workflows, and architectural visualization tools
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data center floor planning and equipment layout
    • Cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, DX, evaporative cooling)
    • Electrical system impacts on architecture (UPS, switchgear, generators, busways)
    • Fire-protection and life-safety systems
    • Raised floor, hot/cold aisle containment, and cable management concepts
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate MEP and structural drawings
  • Familiarity with:
    • Building codes (IBC, NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE)
    • Data center design standards (Uptime Institute Tier I–IV, TIA-942)
    • Sustainability standards (LEED, ASHRAE 90.1)
Expected compensation includes $80,000-$125,000 annual salary and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan available for eligible employees. Compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as an individual’s education, training, experience, skills, geographic location, seniority, merit, and other factors that are job related and consistent with business need.
