📍 Remote (Canada preferred) · Flexible hours
💰 Compensation: Intern → Equity-based / Founding track
We’re an early-stage startup building a mobile-first, community-driven platform designed to make local, real-world collaboration easier, smarter, and more human.
Both our iOS (SwiftUI) and Android apps are live, with a growing user base and early real-world usage. We’re now focused on strengthening and scaling the Android platform.
We’re looking for a hands-on Android engineer to work alongside and support one of our key Android leads, helping accelerate feature development and improve overall app quality — with a clear path to long-term ownership.
This is a high-trust, high-autonomy opportunity for someone who wants real production experience, real responsibility, and real upside.
You’ll contribute to Android development end-to-end, working closely with our Android lead, founder, and core technical team to evolve a live production app and maintain feature parity with iOS.
- Build and enhance features in the Android app using Kotlin + Jetpack Compose
- Support and collaborate with the Android lead on architecture and implementation
- Maintain and improve feature parity with the iOS SwiftUI app
- Integrate with backend APIs (Node.js, Redis, Firebase Auth, Cloud Run)
- Implement Google Maps SDK for routes, pins, navigation, and trip visualization
- Work with FusedLocationProvider for real-time and background location tracking
- Manage notifications using Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
- Handle real-time updates and API data synchronization
- Write clean, maintainable Kotlin code (MVVM / Clean Architecture)
- Contribute to performance, stability, and release readiness
- Have 2–3+ years of experience building native Android apps in Kotlin
- Are comfortable with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, ViewModels, LiveData
- Have worked with Firebase Auth, Firestore, and FCM
- Have some experience with Google Maps SDK and location services
- Are confident consuming REST APIs and handling app state
- Understand MVVM / Clean Architecture (DI with Hilt is a plus)
- Care about UI/UX quality, performance, and clean code
- Are eager to learn from and collaborate with a senior Android lead
- Want real ownership and growth, not just tasks
- Work closely with a strong Android lead and founding team
- Gain deep experience on a live, real-world product
- Fully remote, async-friendly, flexible schedule
- Clear path to equity and long-term involvement
- Learn fast, build fast, and grow with the company
Share your LinkedIn, GitHub, or resume, along with a short note about:
- Your Android experience
- Apps you’ve worked on or shipped
- Any experience with maps, location, or Firebase
