Role Description
This is a contract to hire, 100% remote role with our headquarters located in Redding, CT for a Technical Support Engineer. As a Technical Support Engineer at N7 Data Services, you’ll be the go-to expert for our clients’ backup and disaster recovery needs. In this role, you’ll ensure business continuity by delivering proactive support, troubleshooting complex issues, and optimizing data protection strategies across diverse environments. Monitor and maintain managed backup services, including scheduling, verification, and restoration testing. Respond to and resolve client incidents and service requests promptly, escalating when necessary. Perform disaster recovery simulations and assist clients in developing and refining recovery plans. Collaborate with internal teams to implement best practices for data protection and compliance. You will also document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for internal knowledge sharing. All while focusing on delivering exceptional customer experience, acting as a trusted advisor for technical questions and improvements.

Qualifications
- Strong Customer Service and Communication skills to effectively address client needs
- 3+ years in client-facing engineering roles focused on data backup and recovery
- Proficiency in presenting technical concepts in a clear and engaging manner
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, environment
- Strong experience designing and executing protection plans, migrations and recovery simulations; familiarity with Veeam platform is a plus
- Hands-on expertise across operating systems, virtualization (VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V & Proxmox and Nutanix), storage, scripting/automation, cloud platforms, and DR&R best practices
- VMCE certification required (may be completed post-hire within an agreed timeframe)
- Preferred industry certifications. Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional) certifications are a plus
- Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
