Data Scientist (AI Specialist)

We are working with a leading organisation that is seeking a Data Scientist (AI Specialist) to deliver advanced AI and data-science solutions that enhance trading performance, risk management, and operational efficiency. This role combines hands-on machine-learning delivery with AI strategy and business partnership, ensuring AI initiatives generate measurable business value.

The role reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and works closely with senior leadership, traders, risk managers, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the AI and data science roadmap aligned to trading, risk, and operational priorities
• Identify, shape, and prioritise high-value AI use cases with business stakeholders
• Design, build, and deploy machine-learning and advanced analytics models into production
• Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering on large, complex datasets
• Integrate models into operational and trading systems, including SAP ETRM where applicable
• Ensure models are explainable, reliable, and continuously monitored in production
• Track and report business value, KPIs, and performance of AI initiatives
• Apply AI governance, model risk, and responsible AI standards
• Drive adoption of AI solutions through close collaboration with business and technology teams

Technical Skills

• Exposure to trading platforms, risk systems, and SAP ETRM
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python (and/or R)
• Advanced knowledge of Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, and statistical modelling
• Experience with time-series, optimisation, forecasting, NLP, or risk models
• Familiarity with big data and distributed computing (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
• Experience with cloud ML platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, model deployment, and monitoring
• Understanding of data architecture, governance, and security

Experience

• 5–10 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics in trading environments.
• Proven track record of deploying ML models into production.
• Experience delivering measurable business value from data and AI.
• Exposure to AI governance, model risk management, or regulated environments

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, AI, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
• MBA or business education is a plus
