About The Role

We are seeking a visionary Principal Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this strategic leadership role, you will define Zippy’s technical vision and lead cross-organizational initiatives with company-wide impact. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align technological strategies with business objectives, establish governance mechanisms, and drive technical excellence. Your expertise will be pivotal in architecting foundational platforms, setting reference architectures, and leading multi-year initiatives that shape the future of our digital lending platform. As a key representative of Zippy’s technological thought leadership, you will influence industry standards and promote best practices internally and externally. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build the first fully digital, native loan origination platform for manufactured homes, impacting millions of Americans seeking affordable housing options.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software development experience
• Proven track record of leading company-level technical initiatives
• Deep expertise in cloud architecture, scalability, and resilience
• Mastery across multiple domains and paradigms of systems architecture
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills at the executive level
• Experience in designing and implementing foundational platforms and reference architectures
• Strong understanding of security and reliability best practices
• Ability to lead multi-year, cross-functional projects with broad business impact
• Experience representing organizations as a technical thought leader
  
  

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the company-wide technical vision and strategic direction
• Architect and oversee the development of foundational platforms and reference architectures
• Lead complex, multi-year initiatives that span multiple organizational units
• Establish and maintain governance processes such as technical councils and RFC standards
• Define and uphold the company’s reliability and security standards
• Partner with executive leadership to align technical investments with overall business strategy
• Represent Zippy externally as a thought leader in technology and innovation
• Mentor and guide engineering teams to foster technical excellence and best practices
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions
