Resident Engineer - Automotive OEM Support

Piaxo is looking for a Resident Engineer to support a key automotive OEM through a 12-month on-site assignment in Gothenburg, Sweden. In this role, you will act as the technical interface between the customer and Piaxo’s engineering teams, supporting issue analysis, debugging, coordination, and day-to-day technical communication.

This position requires strong automotive experience, excellent debugging skills, and proven ability to work in customer-facing environments. The Resident Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring fast issue resolution, clear communication, and smooth collaboration between on-site customer teams and remote development teams.

Key Responsibilities

On-Site Customer Support

Act as the primary technical point of contact at the customer site in Gothenburg.

Represent the client in daily technical discussions, meetings, and issue reviews with the OEM.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with customer engineering teams.

Debugging & Issue Analysis

Perform in-depth debugging of software and system-level issues.

Analyse defects, unexpected behaviors, and integration problems.

Reproduce issues, collect logs, traces, and evidence, and provide clear technical feedback.

Coordination & Communication

Track, manage, and prioritize bugs and technical issues.

Coordinate issue resolution with Piaxo’s system, software, hardware, and validation teams.

Ensure accurate and timely communication between the customer and remote engineering teams.

Follow issues through to closure and verify implemented fixes.

System & Software Understanding

Work with complex automotive software and system products.

Support AUTOSAR-based software stacks and system integrations.

Understand system behavior, interfaces, and dependencies to support effective troubleshooting.

Domain Support

Support topics related to powertrain systems.

Contribute knowledge related to low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) charging systems (strong plus).

Provide technical input during system discussions, releases, and integration milestones.

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in the automotive industry.

Strong hands-on debugging and problem-solving skills.

Solid understanding of automotive software and system-level products.

Knowledge of AUTOSAR (Classic and/or Adaptive).

Proven customer-facing experience in an OEM or Tier-1 environment (must-have).

Experience tracking and managing defects using issue-tracking tools.

Ability to coordinate effectively with distributed engineering teams.

Excellent communication skills and professional on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with powertrain systems.

Experience with LV/HV charging systems or electrification projects.

Background in system integration, validation, or embedded software development.

Experience working in international, multi-site development environments.

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden (on-site)

Duration: 12 months

Start date: ASAP
