VMware Automation Engineer – Modernise Critical Infrastructure!
We are supporting a global energy technology organisation operating large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure that underpins industrial and energy systems worldwide. This is an environment where reliability, security, and precision matter - and where platform modernisation is a genuine priority, not a future ambition.
A VMware automation and upgrade programme is underway, offering the opportunity to work on a visible, enterprise-scale transformation while introducing modern automation practices across a complex virtualisation estate.
About the Role:
This role sits within an enterprise VMware modernisation programme focused on upgrading an out-of-support virtualisation platform and increasing automation across the environment. The work combines hands-on delivery with structured processes, security governance, and lifecycle alignment.
You’ll be involved in automating VMware operations and supporting a major platform upgrade, working across multiple environments and hardware generations in a highly controlled, business-critical setting.
What You’ll Do:
- Automate VMware platform operations and upgrade workflows
- Support and deliver a major VMware version upgrade
- Embed automation using Ansible and PowerShell
- Work across multiple VMware environments and hardware generations
- Ensure alignment with platform roadmaps, security baselines, and governance processes
- Validate and extend existing automation where required
- Operate in a structured enterprise environment where reliability and quality are key
What You Bring:
- Strong hands-on VMware experience
- Automation experience using Ansible
- PowerShell scripting capability
- Extensive SQL knowledge
- Experience working across complex or multi-environment VMware estates
- Understanding of security baselines and controlled release processes
- Comfort working in governed, process-driven environments
