Director of Animation (3D Blender)

The Role

We are seeking a Director of Animation to spearhead our 3D Blender animation efforts, with a primary focus on YouTube Shorts and other short-form platforms. This is a senior, leadership-level role for someone who can think creatively, operationally, and strategically. You will be responsible not only for producing excellent animation, but for building, leading, and scaling an animation operation, potentially to hundreds or even thousands of animators over time.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Leading and scaling our 3D Blender animation pipeline for short-form storytelling
• Setting creative and technical standards for character animation, camera work, look development, shaders, and simulations
• Recruiting, training, and managing animation teams at scale (50-100 animators)
• Leveraging your existing network (“rolodex”) of animators to accelerate growth
• Creating efficient systems, workflows, and quality control processes
• Collaborating closely with writers, editors, and leadership to turn stories into high performing visuals
• Delivering consistently under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• Proven, professional experience in 3D animation and editing, with strong Blender expertise
• Deep knowledge of character animation, cinematography, lookdev, shader effects, and simulations
• Prior experience leading animation teams and managing production at scale
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with fully remote teams
• A creative problem-solver who can independently develop smart, original solutions
• Someone energized by the challenge of building something big from the ground up

This is a senior role. Candidates should come prepared with a strong portfolio, clear examples of past leadership, and confidence in the value they bring. However, we care just as much about the details: how you communicate, how you think through problems, how you lead others, and how you carry yourself in high-responsibility environments.

Compensation Range: $100K - $120K
