About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic, fully remote team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in natural language processing (NLP) and extensive experience working with unstructured and semi-structured data such as financial statements and tax documents. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models that significantly improve our software’s ability to accurately parse, extract, and categorize complex financial documents. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing our product offerings, streamlining workflows, and providing our clients with reliable, real-time data solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging problems within the alternative investments sector, shaping the future of data digitization and distribution.

Qualifications

• Masters’ or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of relevant industry experience as a data scientist or machine learning engineer, with a focus on NLP/NLU projects
• Proven experience leading end-to-end data science and machine learning project implementations
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex technical results and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency in Python, along with a solid understanding of machine learning frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, and spaCy
• Experience working with unstructured and semi-structured data, especially financial and tax documents

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience applying NLP techniques to financial documents
• Knowledge of alternative investment accounting processes and needs
• Experience deploying machine learning models using containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration technologies

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and optimize machine learning models for parsing, extracting, and categorizing data within PDF tax documents and financial statements
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and engineering, to integrate machine learning solutions into our software products
• Apply statistical analysis to identify signals, trends, and insights that can inform product development and improve model accuracy
• Mentor and guide junior data scientists and team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
• Monitor and maintain deployed models, ensuring they perform reliably and accurately over time
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning, incorporating new techniques to enhance our solutions
