We are seeking an Identity & Access Management Specialist to ensure the right people have the right access to the systems that keep our blood donation operations secure and efficient. In this role, you'll manage user lifecycles, provision and troubleshoot access, and support compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. You'll also collaborate with senior team members to streamline processes and build automation that strengthens our security posture. This foundational role is perfect for someone with strong technical skills and a collaborative mindset who wants to grow their expertise while contributing to Vitalant's life-saving mission.
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Arizona in work-at-home role.
As an Identity & Access Management Specialist, you'll get to:
- Administer and maintain access security systems, user identities, roles, and access rights across enterprise systems.
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, and deprovisioning processes while maintaining security profiles and performing access reviews.
- Process access requests and changes in compliance with policies; troubleshoot issues and escalate complex cases as needed.
- Support and maintain identity and access controls in Active Directory, Azure, and other directory services.
- Utilize automation scripts and workflows to improve efficiency and assist with IAM assessments, system integrations, and upgrades.
- Monitor IAM systems, logs, and workflows for anomalies, risks, and compliance issues; track metrics and report to IT leadership.
- Contribute to IAM policies, standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices while staying current on HIPAA, FDA, and CIS Controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet IAM requirements and support user education on IAM practices.
Requirements
Knowledge/ Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience) - Required
Familiarity With
- PowerShell scripting
- Identity lifecycle management
- Active Directory, Azure, LDAP
- IAM tools, MFA, SSO
- Cybersecurity principles and audit standards - Preferred
One or more of the following certifications (or other vendor equivalents) preferred.
- CompTIA Security+
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent entry-level
- ITIL
- CISSP, CISM, CIAM or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Technology, with exposure to
identity and access management systems, including Active Directory, Azure, and
Exchange.
Experience administering access security systems and IAM workflows is required.
Preferred Experience Includes
- Working in healthcare or regulated industries
- Supporting compliance and audit processes
- Building and documenting IAM workflows
- Using automation tools and APIs for provisioning/deprovisioning.
Foundational understanding of IAM tools and directory services (e.g., Active Directory, Azure)
Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for access-related issues
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks in a support-oriented environment
Willingness to learn new tools and automation concepts
Commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive information
Team-oriented mindset with a focus on customer service
