About The Role

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join Dune’s data team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw on-chain activity into trustworthy, reusable datasets that power dashboards, products, and research initiatives. Your expertise will help design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines, model complex protocol mechanics into durable schemas, and scale curated datasets across multiple blockchains. Collaboration with product teams, community contributors, and customers is essential to ensure our data infrastructure delivers high-quality insights efficiently. The ideal candidate will bring strong data engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a passion for blockchain data. Your work will directly impact how users understand and leverage blockchain ecosystems, making this a highly impactful position within the company.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience modeling large datasets in modern data warehouses such as Snowflake, Trino, or ClickHouse
• Proficiency in Python for pipeline development, automation, and tooling
• Experience operating robust data pipelines and orchestration tools like Prefect, Airflow, or similar
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and system design principles
• Experience with public cloud platforms and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
• Ability to analyze, debug, and resolve data pipeline issues independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
• Strong blockchain data intuition, including reading transactions, events, and traces
• Interest in query engine internals and performance optimization
• Experience with large-scale data processing, data lakes, and systems performance tuning
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability, cost optimization, and AI tools for development and operations

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines that standardize how on-chain data is consumed by Dune’s customers
• Establish architecture that ensures data quality, timely delivery, validation, and lineage-aware deployments
• Proactively troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve pipeline issues, driving root-cause analysis and long-term reliability improvements
• Own end-to-end data transformation pipelines with comprehensive testing, CI/CD, documentation, and cost-awareness from raw to curated layers
• Build and orchestrate reliable pipelines using modern schedulers and control planes to handle high-volume community contributions
• Collaborate with product, go-to-market, and community teams to deliver clear user value and accelerate insights
• Replicate curated datasets efficiently across platforms such as Kafka, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks, employing appropriate partitioning, compression, and change data capture strategies
