Job Description
Director of Digital Systems £90-95k - Remote
About the role
A large, complex, internationally federated organisation is seeking a Director of Digital Systems to lead and evolve its global portfolio of core enterprise platforms.
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CIO, with accountability for the stability, value and future direction of business-critical digital systems used across multiple countries and semi-autonomous operating entities.
The Opportunity
The organisation has recently completed a major phase of digital transformation and is now entering a period of enterprise platform consolidation, SaaS adoption and shared-service maturity. The focus has shifted from bespoke application build to:
- Extracting maximum value from enterprise platforms
- Governing complex vendor and partner ecosystems
- Designing scalable integration and data models
- Supporting significant organisational and operating-model change
This role will be central to a multi-year ERP-led finance transformation, the evolution of a global shared-services model, and the gradual extension of digital capability from back office into front-line and AI-enabled services.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle and performance of global core digital systems
- Define and deliver platform roadmaps aligned to organisational strategy
- Lead a globally distributed team and third-party partners
- Act as enterprise service owner for shared platforms consumed by multiple business units
- Establish pragmatic, value-led delivery, testing and release disciplines
- Provide senior-level advice on the system implications of organisational change
- Build trust and credibility with executive and non-technical stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- A senior enterprise digital or applications leader (not a hands-on engineer)
- Strong experience owning ERP and core back-office platforms
- Background in complex, federated or matrixed organisations
- Proven ability to lead global teams and manage strategic vendors
- Architecturally literate, with strong understanding of integration and data
- Highly pragmatic, influential and resilient leadership style
Sector background is flexible. Experience in shared services, SaaS platforms or large-scale ERP transformation will be highly valued.
This is a remote-first role with some (but very rare) international travel.
