Job Description


Mission

Architect and lead the design, development, and scaling of AI-driven systems that power Trafilea’s eCommerce innovation. Translate product vision into scalable AI platforms (e.g., recommendation engines, LLM-based personalization, autonomous workflows) while building and mentoring a high-performing AI engineering team. Balance speed of delivery with long-term system design, ensuring AI adoption delivers measurable impact on revenue, customer experience, and scalability.


Accountabilities


  • Identify improvement opportunities, assess and prioritize, plan and implement selected initiatives, measure and evaluate results.
  • Plan and implement upgrades needed to maintain scalable solutions for the company.
  • Responsible for ensuring that adequate resources, consistency and quality are maintained and that service targets are met.
  • Manage multi-phase projects iteratively through Agile techniques.
  • Continual improvement: Align the organization’s practices and services with changing business needs through the ongoing identification and improvement of practices to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the industry in particular related to AI.
  • Improve or re-design current processes and workflows to Move 2X Faster and accelerate service delivery.
  • Establish weekly goal setting meetings and structure bi-weekly leadership reports
  • Have specific goals and measurements to manage team efforts and resources efficiently.
  • Architect AI systems (LLM-based workflows, recommendation engines, personalization pipelines).
  • Lead technical decision-making, balancing innovation with production stability.
  • Mentor and coach Software Engineers, setting coding standards and raising engineering quality.
  • Partner with Product & Business stakeholders to align AI roadmap with business impact.
  • Drive adoption of agile rituals.
  • Own hiring, OKRs, and performance evaluation for AI team members.
  • Champion knowledge sharing: documentation, design reviews, learning sessions.
  • Ensure observability, monitoring, and governance for AI systems in production.


Requirements


  • 5+ years of experience leading highly dynamic tech teams with a strong sense of urgency working on full stack applications.
  • Technical Leadership – Leads architecture, sets standards, ensures delivery.
  • System Design & MLOps – Scales AI pipelines, microservices, and multi-agent workflows.
  • AI/ML Expertise – Hands-on with LangChain, LLM APIs, AWS, Golang/Node.js/React, FastAPI.
  • Problem-Solving – Quickly unblocks teams, balances 20/80 priorities.
  • Strategic Thinking – Connects AI innovation to eCommerce business outcomes.
  • Agility & Adaptability – Thrives in a fast-changing AI landscape.
  • Cross-Functional Influence – Aligns with product, marketing, and data stakeholders.
  • Communication – Simplifies complex AI concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of AWS Cloud.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work successfully with a globally distributed team
  • Orientation to results, understanding of business KPIs as well as technical ones, and able to prioritize on the fly.
  • Excellent communication, active listening and organization skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Hands-on problem solver and confidence when facing challenges to ensure the project is pushed forward.
  • Strong structured thinking skills as well as a proactive attitude, establishing and following up OKRs defined per quarter.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis, KPIs and indicators management.
  • Strong growth and entrepreneurial mindset with a positive attitude.
  • Exceptional written, and verbal communication skills
