About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join our Agentic AI team remotely. In this strategic role, you will spearhead the development of advanced multimodal foundational AI technologies that redefine the real estate experience. Your expertise will be instrumental in prototyping, evaluating, and deploying sophisticated models on Zillow’s scalable infrastructure. You will focus on perception, language understanding, deep reasoning, and reinforcement learning to enhance AI agent decision-making capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for building innovative solutions, a strong background in large-scale AI systems, and a collaborative mindset to mentor team members. You will be responsible for translating complex research into actionable product features, driving product innovation, and ensuring the reliability and responsible deployment of AI solutions. This remote role provides flexibility to work from any location within the United States, with competitive compensation aligned with experience and location.
Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in developing large-scale AI solutions
• Proficiency in foundational large language models, agentic AI, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing
• Experience with multi-agent systems, dialogue systems, and multi-step reasoning
• Strong background in deploying and scaling AI services with high availability and low latency
• Familiarity with frameworks such as AgentSDK, LangChain, and LangGraph
• Proven track record of publishing impactful research in top AI/ML venues (preferred)
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
  

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and develop multi-agent systems capable of autonomous, context-aware interactions
• Leverage advanced Generative AI models to build agentic prototypes and convert them into scalable product features
• Mentor and guide engineering teams in adopting appropriate technologies for agentic AI solutions
• Translate complex research findings into practical insights for diverse audiences, including executives
• Drive product innovation by staying abreast of emerging paradigms in agentic AI
• Lead applied science projects, ensuring alignment on timelines and priorities
• Refine processes for experimentation, A/B testing, and production deployment to balance innovation with stability
• Collaborate across teams to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into Zillow’s infrastructure
