Job Description

About Persona

Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly.

We’ve built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Instacart relies on Persona to verify shoppers who onboard onto their platform before delivering groceries to your doorstep. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live.

We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us!

About The Role

As a People Operations Business Partner, you’ll help build and support high-performing Go-To-Market (GTM) teams. You’ll work closely with leads of all levels to drive talent development, improve team engagement, and navigate organizational changes—all while fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.

Reporting to the Head of People, you’ll be hands-on in solving workplace challenges, optimizing processes, and contributing to broader People Ops initiatives that scale with the company. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as HR Operations, Recruiting, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure the team’s success.

This role is primarily based in our San Francisco office, with required in-office days Tuesday through Thursday. Relocation assistance is available for anyone located outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you’ll do at Persona

  • Partner closely with leaders to understand business priorities and translate them into people strategies that drive performance and high engagement
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to managers on performance management, employee relations, organizational design, and team effectiveness
  • Coach managers to build strong teams, navigate difficult conversations, and lead through change with clarity and confidence
  • Design and execute initiatives focused on talent development, organizational changes, and evolving policies, including clear communication and enablement
  • Use people data and insights to identify trends, mitigate risk, and inform decision-making
  • Partner cross-functionally with People Ops, Talent, Tech Ops, and Legal to deliver a consistent, compliant employee experience
  • Act as a culture carrier, reinforcing Persona’s values and operating norms.

What you’ll bring to Persona

  • 4–6+ years of progressive HR experience, including time in an HR Business Partner ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth or startup environment
  • Demonstrated experience partnering directly with managers and senior leaders on people-related matters
  • Ability to navigate complex employee relations issues with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong understanding of employment fundamentals and how to apply them pragmatically in a growing company.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, operate with autonomy, and move work forward in an ambiguous environment.
  • Clear, empathetic communicator who can influence without authority and build trust at all levels.
  • Skilled at translating complex topics into practical guidance for leaders and employees.
  • Experience using data and insights to inform decisions and improve people programs.
  • Curious, feedback-oriented, and motivated to continuously improve both yourself and the organization.

Full-time Employee Benefits And Perks

For full-time employees (excluding internship and contractor opportunities), Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipend, wellness benefits, among others. While we believe competitive compensation and benefits are a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you consider why our core values and culture are right for you.
