About The Role

Rad AI is seeking a skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our platform team, focusing on building and maintaining our healthcare data platform. This pivotal role involves developing scalable, secure, and reliable backend systems that power our core products, including our reporting applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in backend development, particularly with Python and TypeScript, and a strong understanding of web architecture, data storage, and healthcare data standards such as HL7 and FHIR. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Management, UX, and Customer Success—to design and implement new features that support our growing customer base. Your contributions will directly impact how healthcare data flows within our systems, ensuring seamless integration and high performance in a HIPAA-compliant environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of healthcare and technology, shaping the future of medical data management and AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience in multi-tenant environments
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and FastAPI or equivalent frameworks
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and document-based storage systems
  • Strong understanding of modern web architecture, security, and best practices
  • Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and web APIs like WebSockets and IndexedDB
  • Experience with unit and integration testing methodologies
  • Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git, within distributed teams
  • Ability to diagnose and optimize performance issues at scale
  • Experience working in HIPAA-compliant environments and familiarity with healthcare data standards like HL7 and FHIR

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain large-scale web applications, including single-page applications with React/TypeScript
  • Build robust backend services using Python and FastAPI, including REST APIs and machine learning pipelines
  • Implement new features and enhancements to support an expanding customer base
  • Ensure code quality, security, and maintainability by adhering to internal standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, iterate on features, and resolve defects
  • Participate in architectural decisions to improve system scalability and performance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system issues
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
