About The Team

As part of OAG’s growing SRE Team, the Database Administrator / SQL DBA plays a crucial role in supporting and enhancing our rapidly evolving data platform. Our data warehouse and data systems are undergoing a ground-up transformation, experiencing explosive growth in both size and scope. You’ll join a team that thrives on challenge, continuous learning, and building resilient, high-performing data solutions.

Are you excited about working with a system which is crunching a billion data rows a day? Would you be happy to be able to play with a 200+ billion rows data warehouse with more than 16 years’ worth of data?

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Administering, managing, and optimizing MSSQL Server databases hosted in AWS EC2 and RDS.
  • Ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability across a high-transaction environment.
  • Performing capacity planning, monitoring, and proactive performance tuning.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and monitoring SQL Server databases and high-availability solutions.
  • Managing replication architectures and contributing to their operational reliability.
  • Investigating performance issues, optimizing queries, and driving continuous improvements.
  • Supporting and performing database migrations across different technologies.
  • Collaborating with other teams and working with additional database systems such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and other modern data platforms.
  • Documenting processes, improvements, and operational best practices to strengthen team knowledge.

  • Experience with relational database design in high-availability, transactional environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Solid experience with database infrastructure and operations.

Expertise in

  • Microsoft SQL Server administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Query optimization & performance investigations
  • Capacity planning and monitoring
  • Replication architecture and operational management
  • Database migration between different technologies
  • MSSQL or AWS Certifications (nice to have).
