Senior SDET / Automation QA Engineer for Backend Processing and Data Validation

Optomi is seeking a Senior SDET / Automation QA Engineer to support a large-scale, data-driven platform modernization initiative. This role is heavily focused on backend processing, data validation, and automated regression testing, with minimal emphasis on UI or front-end testing.

The team is developing a next-generation GIS platform, and this role will play a critical part in ensuring data integrity, system stability, and regression safety as new features continue to be delivered. You will be responsible for designing and implementing new automated regression frameworks, validating backend processing and data points, and ensuring that ongoing development does not introduce risk to existing functionality.

This role is ideal for engineers who prefer backend automation, data validation, and system-level testing over UI-focused automation.

**Fully remote, must be able to work on W2, no sponsorships.

Requirements

• Strong experience as an Automation QA Engineer, SDET, or Quality Engineer
• Proficiency in Python for test automation
• Hands-on experience with automated regression testing in complex systems
• Experience testing backend services, APIs, data processing, and integrations
• Familiarity with enterprise testing tools such as ALM, qTest, or similar
• Experience designing scalable, maintainable automation frameworks
• Background working with multiple automation tools and frameworks
• Experience testing GIS platforms or other data-heavy systems

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and build automated regression test frameworks from scratch using Python
• Develop automated tests focused on backend services, APIs, data processing, and system integrations
• Validate complex datasets, processing logic, and data flows within a GIS and data-heavy platform
• Create and maintain a regression test bed as the platform evolves
