Job Description


About the Role

We’re seeking a strategic yet hands-on Head of HR Generalist to build and lead our HR function from the ground up. This is a first-time role designed for an experienced HR generalist ready to own all aspects of human resources in a 20-person, globally distributed team (Europe, Singapore, Philippines).


You’ll design, implement, and continuously improve our HR policies, processes, and systems—ensuring a consistent, compliant, and engaging employee experience across the entire lifecycle. As a true partner to leadership and teams, you will balance strategic planning with practical execution in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.



Responsibilities


  • HR Strategy & Policy Development
  • Develop and maintain company-wide HR policies, guidelines, and employee handbook to ensure compliance, clarity, and consistency across jurisdictions.
  • Advise leadership on HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational design to support growth.
  • Establish and maintain clear, fair frameworks for job descriptions, job grading, and compensation benchmarking.


  • Recruitment & Employer Branding
  • Own the full recruitment cycle: sourcing, interviewing, selection, offers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define roles and requirements that meet business needs.
  • Build our employer brand to attract top talent in diverse markets.


  • Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Design and implement structured onboarding and offboarding processes for a seamless employee experience.
  • Ensure all legal, operational, and system requirements are met across regions.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and cultural alignment from day one.


  • Compensation, Bonus & Incentive Systems
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and maintain fair, motivating compensation structures.
  • Support development of transparent commission and bonus schemes.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and internal equity.


  • HR Operations & Systems (Personio)
  • Manage and optimize our HRIS (Personio) for employee data, time tracking, vacation management, and reporting.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for Personio system set-up, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure data accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all HR processes.


  • Performance Management & Development (Leapsome)
  • Lead the annual performance appraisal process using Leapsome.
  • Support goal-setting, feedback, and development planning in alignment with company objectives.
  • Train managers and employees to get the most from Leapsome’s features.


  • Learning & Development
  • Identify skill gaps and training needs across the team.
  • Coordinate L&D initiatives to foster continuous learning and career growth.
  • Track participation and evaluate effectiveness of programs.


  • Culture & Employee Engagement
  • Help shape and nurture IMAA’s global culture of collaboration, respect, and high performance.
  • Design and implement initiatives to improve engagement, retention, and employee well-being.
  • Serve as a trusted partner for employees, offering guidance and support on HR matters.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of broad HR experience with exposure to international employment contexts.
  • Demonstrated success in setting up or improving HR processes in a small to mid-sized company.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.


Required Skills


  • Proven HR leadership or senior generalist experience, ideally in a small, international company.
  • Deep understanding of HR policy development, recruitment, compensation planning, and performance management.
  • Hands-on experience with HR systems, preferably Personio and Leapsome.
  • Self-starter mindset: able to design and deliver HR solutions independently.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across cultures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a lean environment.
