Job Description
The Head of HR is a strategic and operational leader responsible for shaping and delivering the people agenda across the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role partners closely with senior leadership to build a high-performance, collaborative, and values-driven culture that supports the company’s growth and long-term success.
This role is primarily office-based to support collaboration, teamwork, and visibility across the organisation. The Head of Human Resources is expected to work from the office 4 days per week, with 1 day per week working from home.
This role balances strategic HR leadership with hands-on execution, ensuring HR policies, processes, and practices are aligned with business objectives while delivering a positive and engaging employee experience.
Key Responsibilities Strategic
Leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and leadership team on all people-related matters.
• Lead organisational design, workforce planning, and succession planning to support current and future needs.
• Champion a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and accountability across the organisation.
People & Culture
• Foster an inclusive, high-performing workplace where employees feel engaged, supported, and motivated.
• Lead employee engagement initiatives and use feedback to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee performance management frameworks, ensuring consistency, fairness, and development-focused outcomes.
• Support leadership capability through coaching, development programmes, and targeted interventions.
Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding
• Provide strategic oversight to the Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Manager.
• Ensure effective hiring strategies that attract high-quality, diverse talent aligned with company values.
• Strengthen the employer brand to position the organisation as an employer of choice.
HR Operations & Compliance
• Oversee all core HR operations, including policies, procedures, contracts, and employee relations.
• Ensure compliance with employment law and best practice, proactively managing risk.
• Lead complex employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement.
• Continuously review and improve HR processes to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Office & Workplace Management
• Line manage the Office Manager, ensuring a well-run, collaborative, and productive office environment.
• Support initiatives that enhance the in-office experience and reinforce the importance of team presence (4 days per week in-office).
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, develop, and mentor the HR team, setting clear objectives and fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration.
• Encourage strong cross-functional relationships and partnership across the business.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role, ideally reporting to executive-level leadership.
- Strong generalist HR background with experience across employee relations, talent, and culture.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Sound knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
Desirable
- Experience using HR systems, particularly BambooHR.
- Experience overseeing or working closely with payroll processes.
