Appian Architect

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Appian Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade low-code solutions using the Appian platform. This is a fully remote role, working with distributed teams and German-speaking business stakeholders on complex digital transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine deep Appian technical expertise with strong architectural governance, stakeholder communication, and solution leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end Appian solution architecture, covering design, scalability, security, and performance
• Translate complex business requirements (German-language stakeholders) into robust Appian solutions
• Define and enforce Appian best practices, design standards, and architectural patterns
• Lead application design across process models, data models, interfaces, integrations, and security
• Architect integrations with enterprise systems (REST/SOAP APIs, databases, identity platforms)
• Guide development teams on low-code governance, performance tuning, and deployment strategies
• Support CI/CD pipelines, environment strategy, and release management for Appian applications
• Act as the technical escalation point and mentor Appian developers
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and enterprise architects

Essential Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in BPM / low-code platforms
• 3+ years of hands-on Appian architecture experience
• Strong expertise in:
• Appian SAIL interfaces
• Process Models & Expression Rules
• Data Fabric & Record Types
• Security models and role-based access
• Solid experience integrating Appian with external systems via APIs
• Strong understanding of Appian performance optimization and scalability
• Experience working in agile delivery environments
• Ability to operate independently in a fully remote setup

Desirable / Nice to Have

• Appian Level 2 or Level 3 Certification
• Experience with cloud-hosted Appian (AWS / Azure)
• Exposure to regulated environments (banking, insurance, public sector)
• DevOps experience (CI/CD, automated testing, release pipelines)
• Prior experience in solution governance or enterprise architecture roles
