Job Description
Staff Embedded Linux Engineer – Robotics / AI Systems
Austin, TX | Onsite | Relocation supported | $130k–$200k
This role sits at the intersection of embedded systems, AI and real-world autonomy.
You’ll join a robotics-focused defense technology company building AI-powered weapon and sensing platforms designed to modernise how threats are detected, tracked and neutralised. These systems don’t live in simulations - they operate at the edge, under real constraints, where performance, latency and reliability matter.
If you enjoy working close to hardware, pushing embedded Linux to its limits, and seeing your code directly influence physical systems, this is that kind of environment.
What you’ll be building:
You’ll play a senior technical role developing embedded Linux software that runs on NVIDIA Jetson platforms, powering intelligent robotic systems. Your work will span:
- Kernel-level and driver development in C/C++
- Hardware bring-up and low-level integration
- Performance-critical systems where timing and determinism matter
- Debugging complex hardware/software interactions using scopes, logic analyzers and similar tools
Python is used where it makes sense, but this is a systems-first role, not application-level development.
What makes this role stand out
- You’ll work on proprietary hardware and software, not commodity products
- Small, elite engineering team with direct access to technical leadership
- High trust, high ownership environment - strong engineers are given real autonomy
- Defence background is not required - strong embedded systems engineers are
What you’ll bring
- 5–10 years’ experience in embedded or systems engineering
- Deep experience with Embedded Linux, kernel and driver development
- Hands-on work with NVIDIA Jetson platforms
- Confidence debugging at the hardware/software boundary
- Degree in EE, CS or similar technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
Location & compensation
- Austin, TX (onsite required)
- Relocation package available
- $200k base, with flexibility for exceptional candidates
If you want to work on real robotic systems, write low-level code that actually ships, and operate in an environment where technical excellence is the bar, this is worth exploring.
