Job Description
We’re hiring a contract Product Designer to expand our design capacity and support a fast-growing product and engineering team. This role is intentionally scoped around design execution and delivery, enabling product leadership to stay focused on vision, prioritization, and roadmap ownership.
You’ll work embedded with product and engineering to translate direction into build-ready designs quickly, collaborating closely with developers and iterating in a sprint-based, real-world environment. The products you design will support patients with rare and chronic illnesses.
This is an ideal role for a strong mid-to-senior designer who thrives on execution, practical problem-solving, and shipping work. Product strategy and roadmap ownership are handled by product leadership, allowing this role to focus on high-quality execution. Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or C2C arrangement.
What You’ll Achieve
- Translate product direction, requirements, and constraints into high-quality, build-ready designs
- Execute designs within existing patterns, components, and workflows (not reinventing flows)
- Collaborate daily with product and engineering to clarify intent, feasibility, and edge cases
- Participate in discovery sessions, grooming, and refinement to gain context and support delivery
- Use AI-assisted design tools (e.g., v0, Figma AI, or similar) to accelerate iteration
- Iterate quickly with short, informal review cycles, while maintaining a pragmatic mindset to keep delivery moving
- Help build and document a design system based on the existing SHADCN framework
- Create designs that support complex, data-heavy internal and enterprise workflows
How This Role Works
- Product leadership owns vision, priorities, and final design decisions
- You own design execution and iteration within that direction
- You’re empowered to propose solutions and improvements
- Decision-making is lightweight and biased toward forward progress
- Any changes impacting scope, workflow, or behavior are reviewed before moving forward
- You’ll be fully embedded with the product and development team—never working in isolation
- This role exists to increase delivery velocity on an active roadmap, not to backfill or band-aid a gap
- You’ll have the same access, context, and expectations as full-time team members
About You
- 5+ years of product or UX/UI design experience (execution-heavy roles preferred)
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools (v0, Figma AI, or similar)
- Strong ability to turn direction into polished designs quickly and independently
- Comfort designing within established systems and constraints
- Experience collaborating directly with engineers in agile, sprint-based teams
- Experience designing complex internal tools or enterprise software
- Practical mindset focused on shipping, not over-polishing
- Clear communicator who thrives in a growing and evolving product environment
- Portfolio demonstrating strong execution and real-world shipped work
Extra Credit If You Have:
- Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated environments
Onboarding & Team Structure
- Onboarding begins by the end of the current sprint
- Expected to onboard and ramp in the first 2-3 sprints, reaching full productivity in Sprint 3 (3-week sprint cycles)
- Reports directly to Product Leadership
- Works closely with product, engineering, and (soon) QA partners
- Fully remote with flexible work arrangements
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience (U.S. market)
Growth Opportunity
While this role is intentionally scoped as a mid-senior execution role, it offers a clear growth path toward senior, lead, or principal design roles as the team scales. We’re building a team with long-term growth and retention in mind.
