Our client, a leading FinTech SaaS company specializing in tax technology solutions, is seeking a Head of AI to join their innovative team. As a Head of AI, you will be part of the Technology Department supporting the Machine Learning practice. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and strategic vision, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Head of AI

Location: Fully Remote, must reside in the Midwest

What's the Job?

  • Design, develop, and refine advanced ML/NLP models focused on parsing, extracting, and interpreting complex financial and tax documents.
  • Lead the entire ML lifecycle, including data ingestion, labeling strategies, feature engineering, experimentation, training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and develop proof-of-concept projects for emerging ML technologies such as LLMs, embeddings, RAG systems, and modern evaluation frameworks.
  • Build and mentor a high-impact ML team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams to identify high-impact use cases and translate them into scalable ML solutions aligned with business goals.


What's Needed?

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 8–12+ years of industry experience with at least 3–5 years leading ML, AI, or Data Science teams or initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in NLP/NLU and Document Intelligence, including transforming unstructured or semi-structured PDFs and financial documents into structured outputs using machine learning.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, Huggingface, and scikit-learn.
  • Hands-on experience deploying ML systems into production using containerization and cloud-native workflows (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure).
