WordPress Developer (Maintenance, Development and Support)

About 00Digital: 00Digital is a remote-first digital agency serving clients across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. We build high-performance websites and applications using modern tech stacks. As we scale our Next.js and headless CMS work, we need a reliable WordPress specialist to handle maintenance and support for our legacy client base.
Role Overview You'll own all WordPress maintenance, updates, bug fixes, and development work for our retainer clients. This includes building new WordPress sites from scratch, implementing custom features, performance optimization, and ongoing support. You'll receive project briefs and support tickets, execute independently, and keep sites running smoothly. This is a pure execution role - no sales, no client acquisition - just solid technical work delivering WordPress solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot WordPress sites (plugin updates, bug fixes, performance optimization)
- Handle client requests for minor features, content updates, and design tweaks
- Perform site cleanups, security audits, and resolve hosting issues
- Work with page builders (Elementor, Breakdance, Oxygen etc.)
- Debug PHP, JavaScript, and CSS issues
- Communicate progress and blockers
- Document recurring issues and create solutions for common problems
Requirements
- 1-3 years hands-on WordPress development experience
- Strong PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript fundamentals
- Experience with popular page builders (Elementor, Breakdance, Oxygen etc.)
- Comfortable with cPanel, WordPress hosting environments, and basic server management
- Can work independently with minimal supervision - we need someone who takes ownership
- Strong English communication skills (written) - you'll be in Clickup with the team daily
- UTC+8 business hours or close overlap
- Strong remote work habits - responsive during work hours, reliable for meetings, and proactive communication when issues come up
Bonus Points
- Experience with WooCommerce
- Familiarity with WordPress migration tools and workflows
- Understanding of web performance optimization (caching, CDN, lazy loading)
- Experience with ACF, Custom Post Types, and custom theme development
- Knowledge of Payload CMS, headless WordPress, or modern frameworks
