The Role

As a founding member of the technical leadership team, you will be the driving force behind our technology platform. You will split your time between architecting high-performance backend systems and leading the strategic vision for our AI agentic workflows. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will transition from an individual contributor to a leader responsible for hiring, training, and managing our global engineering team.

The London Experience (Optional)

Upon being hired, you will have the optional opportunity to work with the core team in our London (Camden) office for one month. Indico Labs will cover all associated costs for this period to facilitate deep technical integration and team bonding. This is completely optional.

What You’ll Do

Technology Strategy & Leadership

• Vision & Roadmap: Lead the product strategy, articulating a clear technology vision and an integrated plan to scale our SaaS offering.
• Team Building: Identify key technical roles, then hire and mentor a high-agency team across multiple locations.
• Stakeholder Management: Manage senior stakeholders and present technical strategies at the board level.

AI & Backend Engineering

• System Architecture: Architect and build high-performance backend systems using Python (FastAPI/Django) to power AI copilots and automation tools.
• AI Agent Innovation: Research and implement novel approaches for long-context handling, cascading error reduction, and structured outputs.
• Data Intelligence: Design synthetic data pipelines and automated verification systems to strengthen model performance.
• Infrastructure & Security: Own DevOps, platform security, and deployment pipelines to ensure low latency and high reliability.

Operational Excellence

• Quality Standards: Set engineering standards, define best practices, and lead code reviews to ensure a maintainable codebase with strong test coverage.
• Product-Market Fit: Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and ensure our engineering efforts drive real-world user impact.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 5+ years of professional engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade SaaS platforms.
• Technical Stack: Expert knowledge of Python (FastAPI, Django, Pandas) and modern distributed software applications.
• AI Mastery: Extensive experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and evaluating agentic AI systems at scale.
• Infrastructure: Proficiency in AWS, SQL/NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Leadership Qualities: Exceptional communication skills and the ability to think strategically while remaining operationally hands-on.
