AI Engineer (Image Processing & Identification)
A scaling agriculture robotics start-up is building an AI-driven autonomous sprayer designed for protected agriculture. They’re focusing on real-world perception in berry tunnels and greenhouse vertical crops, where precision and reliability matter more than demos.
They’re looking for an AI Engineer to develop the perception layer that enables the robot to identify crops, diseases and pests directly informing precision spraying decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and train computer vision and deep learning models for crop, disease, and pest detection
- Process and fuse RGB and depth data for accurate spatial understanding
- Deploy AI models on embedded or edge devices under real-time constraints
- Collaborate closely with robotics engineers to integrate AI outputs into actuation and spraying behaviours
- Continuously improve models using field data and feedback
What They’re Looking For
- Strong experience in computer vision and deep learning (CNNs, detection, segmentation)
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Experience working with depth cameras (RealSense, ToF, stereo)
- Practical understanding of real-time inference constraints
Nice to Have
- Experience with agricultural datasets or outdoor perception
- Model optimization for edge deployment (TensorRT, ONNX, etc.)
Hybrid working in Porto, Portugal, with relocation support available
Salary €60,000 - €95,000 plus shares
