Job Description
JustinBradley’s client, an expert in securitization and technology in the housing finance market, is seeking a highly skilled AWS Observability Engineer to design, implement, and optimize observability solutions across our AWS cloud infrastructure and applications. This role will be responsible for building automation, integrating monitoring and alerting systems, and ensuring best practices in logging, metrics, and anomaly detection to enhance platform reliability and performance.
100% remote, must work EST hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement automation on AWS to integrate monitoring, alerting, and observability across infrastructure and applications.
- Develop and enhance observability solutions using AWS services, OpenTelemetry, and third-party tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and CloudWatch.
- Define and implement logging standards, metrics, and monitoring frameworks to improve platform visibility and reliability.
- Integrate observability data across multiple platforms and custom interfaces to provide actionable insights.
- Build infrastructure as code using AWS CloudFormation, CodePipeline, SSM Automation Documents, and Config Rules to automate manual IT and business processes.
- Develop automation workflows to support infrastructure anomaly detection and monitoring.
- Write unit and integration tests to validate infrastructure code quality and maintain stability.
- Identify and remediate engineering defects in the existing codebase, ensuring ongoing improvements.
- Maintain configuration documentation and provide support for observability implementations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams through Agile/Scrum ceremonies to deliver high-quality solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of experience in IT systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps roles.
- Strong coding/scripting skills in Python, Shell, PowerShell, Java, and/or .NET framework.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and the ability to quickly adopt new cloud technologies.
- Experience building automation to provision, manage, and monitor cloud services (Infrastructure as Code).
- Familiarity with observability frameworks and open-source tools such as OpenTelemetry.
- Expertise with monitoring and logging platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and CloudWatch.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD methodologies and tools.
- Experience with containerization, including building Windows-based containers with .NET framework.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in Agile environments.
- Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
- Familiarity with data visualization and dashboarding tools.
