Senior Systems Engineer for European Sovereign Cloud

This role involves building and leading operations and development teams for the new European Sovereign Cloud, delivering high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers. Join us in shaping the future of cloud computing in Europe.

The Role

• Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025

• Collaborate with global AWS teams to influence service evolution and technology

• Enhance day-to-day operations and improve availability, reliability, and performance of the ESC

• Work with foundational services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock

• Identify anomalies, craft bug reports, and address operational backlog for systems

• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents and ensure system resilience

What You'll Need

• Fluency in written and spoken English

• Must be a national of an EU member state and resident in the EU

• Expertise in systems engineering (hardware, software, networking, operating systems)

• Experience scripting processes in Bash, Python, or Ruby

• Solid understanding of Linux and networking for troubleshooting software systems

• Ability to lead the creation and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs)
