Senior Data Engineer โ Relocation to the UAE
Client: Global investment management firm
Salary: Up to $200k base + performance bonus (tax-free)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing investment-focused environment and play a key role in building and scaling a modern data platform that supports research, analytics, and investment decision-making.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working close to the data, close to the end users, and close to the impact. You will help shape the data architecture that underpins critical research and investment workflows while working alongside quantitative researchers, engineers, and investment professionals.
What youโll be doing
- Designing, building, and maintaining a scalable enterprise data platform and warehouse
- Developing robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and validate data from multiple internal and external sources
- Experience with common financial datasets (Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Global, Macrobond, Finaeon, MSCI, etc.)
- Partnering closely with quantitative researchers and investment teams to deliver high-quality, research-ready data products
- Implementing data quality frameworks, governance controls, and monitoring systems
- Performing data cleansing, enrichment, and normalisation to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Building and maintaining documentation for data models, pipelines, and processes
- Integrating data systems with existing infrastructure and API middleware layers
- Contributing to data-related project planning and delivery
What weโre looking for
- 5-10 years' experience in data engineering within financial services or a quantitative environment
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Extensive experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD workflows (e.g. GitLab)
- Familiarity with financial datasets such as Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Global, MSCI, Macrobond, etc.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, data architecture, and governance principles
- Experience working directly with quantitative engineers and investment professionals
