Senior Applied AI Engineer

Location: New York City, NY (On-site)

Salary: Up to $325,000 + Equity

The mission:

Join a category-defining applied AI company transforming critical industries including healthcare, manufacturing, and energy. You will embed directly with enterprise partners, including multi-billion-dollar healthcare systems, to identify high-leverage problems and build bespoke AI-powered systems that operate in the real world.

This is not a lab role. This is not a tooling role.

This is a forward-deployed engineering role where ownership, judgement, and engineering depth matter.

What you’ll do:

• Embed with customer executives, operators, and technical teams to define ambiguous problems and turn them into working systems
• Design and build production software and AI workflows from first principles
• Rapidly ship, iterate, and harden systems used by real teams in high-stakes environments
• Translate field learnings into reusable product patterns and core platform capabilities
• Own projects end-to-end: architecture, delivery, iteration, and outcomes

Who you are:

• Typically 4+ years building and shipping real production systems
• Strong computer science foundations and systems engineering ability
• Experience in early-stage or high-ownership environments (startup, founding team, new product, internal platform built from scratch)
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous, customer-facing environments
• Able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leaders
• Demonstrated curiosity and self-direction around AI, whether through professional work or personal exploration
• Hands-on builder who can lead when needed, but prefers owning problems directly

Bonus signals: founding engineer experience, platform ownership, mentoring, or technical leadership.

Technical environment:

Python, TypeScript, modern backend systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), applied ML/LLM workflows, agentic systems, human-in-the-loop pipelines. (They care more about engineering depth and judgement than exact tools.)
