Primary Job Functions

Finance Core & Systems of Record (Top Priority)

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for Ashley’s core Finance ERP and surrounding platforms (e.g., GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cash Management).
  • Ensure systems support multi-entity, multi-currency, and intercompany accounting in a global manufacturing and retail environment.
  • Partner with Finance to improve financial close, controls, and audit readiness, including support for SOX and internal control requirements.
  • Drive integration of manufacturing, supply chain, and retail operations into a consistent financial system of record.
  • Work with IT and vendors on ERP modernization and optimization (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion, Dynamics 365 Finance, Infor).

Operational Finance Platforms

  • Lead product strategy for operational finance systems supporting order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes.
  • Oversee capabilities for invoicing, billing, credit, collections, pricing engines, commissions, tariffs, and adjustments.
  • Collaborate with Cost Accounting and FP&A to enable robust standard/actual cost accounting, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.

Planning, Close & Performance Management

  • Partner with FP&A to support and enhance planning platforms (budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling).
  • Enable financial consolidation and management reporting across multiple business units and regions.
  • Ensure systems support workforce planning, cost center planning, and executive/board-level financial insights using platforms such as Planful, Anaplan, OneStream, Oracle EPM, or similar.

Integration & Automation Backbone

  • Define and drive an API-first integration strategy for finance systems, while supporting batch-based integrations where appropriate.
  • Oversee coexistence with legacy systems (e.g., AS400, DB2, flat files) during transition periods.
  • Work closely with integration teams using middleware/iPaaS (e.g., Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft, Boomi) to orchestrate workflows.
  • Support AP/AR automation solutions (e.g., Kofax/Tungsten) to reduce manual effort and improve cycle times.

Data, Reporting & Governance

  • Ensure alignment of finance data models and system-of-record definitions with enterprise data standards.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics teams to support data warehouses, data lakes, and semantic layers for finance reporting.
  • Enable self-service BI and reporting through tools like Power BI, with strong emphasis on data quality, lineage, and governance.
  • Support Finance in defining and tracking key financial KPIs and dashboards.

Product Delivery & Execution

  • Own the product roadmap for finance platforms, ensuring alignment with business priorities and capacity constraints.
  • Define and prioritize the product backlog (epics, features, user stories) and manage dependencies across teams.
  • Use Jira or similar tools to manage product execution, including sprint planning, risk tracking, and delivery metrics.
  • Lead cross-functional delivery with Finance, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely, high-quality releases.

Adjacent Systems (Nice to Have)

  • Provide guidance and alignment across related systems such as payroll and benefits (UKG, ADP), expense management, treasury/banking, and document management/ECM (OnBase).

Job Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of product management, business systems ownership, or enterprise applications experience, with 5+ years focused on finance systems.
  • Proven track record delivering and scaling enterprise-level financial platforms in manufacturing, wholesale, or retail environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with Finance leadership (CFO, Controller, FP&A) as a trusted partner.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of finance processes: GL, AP, AR, FA, cash, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, revenue recognition, cost accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major ERP finance platform (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion, Dynamics 365 Finance).
  • Strong product management fundamentals: strategy, roadmap development, stakeholder management, and Agile delivery.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using BI/analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) for decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, able to translate complex systems into business language and influence at all levels.
  • Experience working with integration technologies, automation tools, and financial data architectures.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and risk, including SOX considerations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and cross-functional initiatives.
