Job Description
Location: Fully Remote
Team: India-based, Global
Reporting: Directly works with one of the Co-Founders and Team Focused on the US Market
Industry: EdTech / Online College Credit / Transfer Pathways
Target Market: United States (primary), Canada (secondary), global international students (select markets)
About UPI Study
UPI Study helps students earn affordable, transferable college credit through ACE & NCCRS credit recommendations—so they can finish degrees faster and at a fraction of the cost. We’re scaling a content + SEO engine aimed at high-intent US search traffic (transfer credit, prior learning, credit recommendations, online college credit alternatives, university transfer policies, etc.).
What you’ll own (high-impact responsibilities)
You’ll run SEO like a growth channel, not a “marketing checkbox.”
Content SEO (Blogs + Program Pages)
- Build and execute a blog strategy that captures high-intent US queries and supports conversion
- Create outlines + briefs, optimize content, and collaborate with writers/editors
- Own internal linking strategy, topic clusters, and content refresh cycles
- Produce new content and/or heavily edit contributor content (depending on your strengths)
Technical SEO (Schemas, Markup, HTML)
- Implement and validate structured data: Course, Product, Organization, FAQ, Article, Breadcrumb, Review/AggregateRating, Offer, etc.
- Work directly with HTML/CSS/JS where needed (Thinkific/Wix-style environments included)
- Fix indexing/crawling problems: canonicalization, duplicate pages, sitemap strategy, pagination, parameter handling
- Run audits and ship fixes: Core Web Vitals, page performance, structured data errors, broken internal links, redirects, etc.
SEO Analytics + Growth
- Own weekly SEO reporting: rankings, impressions, clicks, CTR, conversions, indexed pages, content velocity
- Run experiments: title/meta testing, schema testing, internal-link improvements, page template enhancements
- Competitor analysis vs players like Sophia/StraighterLine/Study.com (and university-side pages)
- Work closely with leadership to prioritize what moves revenue, not vanity metrics
Tools you should be comfortable with
- Google Search Console, GA4, Google Tag Manager
- Ahrefs / Semrush (one is fine), Screaming Frog, PageSpeed Insights / Lighthouse
- Schema validators / Rich Results Test, structured data debugging
- CMS editing + HTML editing (Thinkific/Wix/WordPress-like systems)
- Bonus: Looker Studio, Python scripts, programmatic SEO workflows, IndexNow, Google Indexing API (not required, but valuable)
What “good” looks like in the first 60–90 days
- Clear SEO roadmap + prioritized backlog (technical + content)
- Reliable weekly content publishing cadence with measurable improvement in impressions/clicks
- Structured data deployed correctly across priority templates with fewer warnings/errors
- Improved indexing health: cleaner canonicals, stronger internal links, better sitemap hygiene
- Early signs of lift in high-intent queries tied to lead/signup conversion
Who you are
- You can explain SEO in plain English and still execute the technical work
- You’ve shipped real wins: traffic growth, rankings, and conversion lift
- You’re organized, fast, and comfortable owning outcomes
- You care about search intent and business impact, not “SEO theater”
Bonus points (nice-to-have)
- Experience in education, compliance-heavy industries, or marketplaces
- Experience with programmatic SEO at scale
- Experience optimizing for US markets + international segments
- Experience with Email Marketing
Why Join Us
- You’ll work directly with the founders.
- This isn’t a layered organization where ideas get diluted. You’ll collaborate closely with the founding team, influence strategy, and see your work translate into real outcomes—fast.
- You’ll help shape a US-centric brand from the inside.
- We serve a US audience and operate with US standards, while building with a globally distributed team. You’ll have a front-row seat in shaping how a modern, US-focused company scales content, trust, and credibility globally.
- Your work will compound.
- The content you write, the media you secure, and the narratives you build won’t be one-off tasks—they’ll drive SEO, AI discovery, PR authority, and long-term inbound growth across multiple channels.
- You’ll have real ownership, not just tasks.
- We value people who think like builders. If you have ideas beyond writing or PR—campaigns, positioning, social narratives, growth experiments—you’ll have the freedom (and trust) to run with them.
- Fully remote, outcome-driven culture.
- Our team is distributed across India, and we operate on trust, clarity, and results—not micromanagement. If you’re self-driven and care about impact, you’ll thrive here.
