Job Description
This position is based in Basel (CH), relocation possible if you are eligible for a work permit in Switzerland (EU citizens).
Tasks and responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure system architectures that support business objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades, integrations, and migrations with minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, sharing knowledge and ensuring solutions align with both technical requirements and business needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application-layer and infrastructure issues, applying analytical thinking to deliver effective, realistic solutions.
- Drive automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, resilience, and maintainability.
- Work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a distributed team setup.
Required skills
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in system engineering, with proven ability to design, implement, and maintain complex infrastructures.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Solid understanding of traditional on-premises infrastructure, including hardware installation and maintenance.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g. Proxmox) and distributed storage solutions (e.g. Ceph).
- Skilled in storage and backup strategies, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced Linux administration skills
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment pipelines to streamline operations.
- Experience deploying and managing workloads across cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major cloud providers.
- Proficiency in development or scripting (Python, Bash, ...) to support automation and tooling.
- Knowledge of system and application security best practices.
- Experience managing and optimizing relational databases.
