About the Role
We are seeking a highly specialized Biomedical Knowledge Systems Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and evolution of advanced biomedical information and knowledge discovery systems. This role sits at the intersection of biomedical data, software engineering, and GenAI, supporting complex, regulated scientific workflows.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with biomedical data platforms, document databases, cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven semantic search systems.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on experience in software development and specialized biomedical system administration
- Hands-on expertise with MarkLogic and MongoDB document databases, including complex data migration between platforms
- Strong experience with AWS services, including:
- Secrets Manager
- Elastic Beanstalk
- EC2
- (supporting secure, compliant deployments in regulated environments)
- In-depth experience working with FDA, AACT, and ClinicalTrials.gov datasets and APIs, including regulatory data standards and integration techniques
including large-scale ingestion, normalization, and semantic integration
- Direct, production-level experience with NLP, GenAI, and LLM-based agentic frameworks, applied to real-world biomedical use cases (e.g., semantic search, knowledge graphs)
- Strong full-stack engineering skills, including:
- Modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js or equivalent)
- Backend API design
- Cloud-based microservices architectures tailored to scientific workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior ownership or stewardship of custom-built biomedical knowledge or information systems with complex, multi-source data pipelines
- Documented contributions to FDA regulatory information systems
- Experience collaborating on scientific publication analytics or biomedical knowledge platforms
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of dedicated experience in software development and biomedical systems engineering
