Job Opening Information:
Location: Remote (San Antonio, TX-based preferred)
Type: Full-time
Experience: Senior (5+ years)
About the role
We’re a mid-size, growing organization bringing development of a business-critical internal platform in-house after working with an external development partner. We’re looking for a senior full-stack engineer to take ownership of a modern Angular-based web application that supports medical asset purchasing, tracking, logistics, and deployment.
This is a hands-on, ownership-heavy role. You’ll be the primary engineer responsible for improving, extending, and maintaining an existing production system used daily by internal teams and external clients.
If you enjoy working in complex UIs, owning systems end-to-end, and partnering directly with business stakeholders, this role will suit you well.
What you’ll work on
- Own and extend a modern Angular (v17) application with a complex, feature-rich UI
- Build and maintain backend services written in TypeScript
- Work with a MySQL (Aurora/RDS) database backing a production system
- Improve and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Deploy and operate containerized services running on AWS ECS
- Collaborate directly with leadership and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Incrementally improve an existing codebase (not a greenfield rewrite)
- Help shape the technical direction as the product evolves, including potential SaaS-readiness
Our current stack (for context)
- Frontend: Angular 17, Angular CLI, Angular Material, RxJS, SCSS
- (plus DevExpress/DevExtreme, DataTables, ngx-permissions, ngx-translate, charts, PDFs, QR scanning)
- Backend: TypeScript / Node.js
- Database: MySQL (Aurora / RDS)
- Infrastructure: AWS ECS, S3, CloudWatch
- Environments: Separate staging and production clusters
You don’t need to be an expert in every tool listed, but you should be comfortable working in this kind of environment.
What we’re looking for
Required
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience with Angular and modern TypeScript
- Full-stack experience building and maintaining web applications
- Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL preferred)
- Experience owning and supporting production systems
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for outcomes
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Strongly preferred
- Experience maintaining or modernizing an existing codebase
- Familiarity with AWS (especially ECS, RDS, S3)
- Experience designing or improving authentication/authorization systems
- Background in internal tools, asset tracking, logistics, or healthcare-adjacent systems
What this role is (and isn’t)
- This role is:
- A senior individual contributor role with real ownership
- A mix of feature development, maintenance, and incremental improvement
- Direct collaboration with leadership and stakeholders
- This roles is:
- Not a junior role
- Not a large engineering team with heavy process
- Not a short-term contract
Why join us
- Real ownership of a business-critical system
- Autonomy and influence over technical decisions
- Small team with direct impact
- Opportunity to shape the product’s future as it evolves
