Role Overview
We’re looking for a talented BACKEND ENGINEER I to join our small, energetic engineering team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a strong foundation in software development principles, and is eager to grow their technical skills while contributing to innovative backend projects that drive business success and improve health outcomes.

- Work in a small, tight-knit, empowered team to build and deploy cloud-based backend APIs and services for Ovia's mobile applications to deliver a solution that provides daily personalized health support for women and families
- Participate in code reviews in a way that deepens team knowledge and improves our technology
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly across the development lifecycle
- Be a part of a culture that values collaboration, inclusion, experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- HS Diploma required
- 2-4 years professional experience with team-based development
- Experience with modern PHP (8+) required
- Experience with a PHP framework (e.g. Symfony or Laravel), Doctrine DBAL/ORM, and SQL is preferred
- Understanding of software engineering best practices such as testability and object-oriented design with the ability to incorporate these into technical solutions
- Experience in healthcare industry is preferred

Pay Range: $75-90k annual salary
All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees / as well as internal equity and market data.
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on 7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO. For more detailed information, please click here.
