Job Description

Product Designer (Part-Time, Equity-Based)

Location: Remote (with some CET availability)

Type: Part-time (10โ€“20 hours/week)

About Nvoye

Nvoye is a platform built to support ministries, embassies, and diplomatic teams. Our tools help diplomatic missions simplify operations, maintain institutional memory, and focus on what truly matters: people, partnerships, and peace.

Nvoye equips diplomatic teams with the infrastructure they need to function effectively, including event planning, contact management, and structured reporting.ย

We believe diplomacy works best when human connection and institutional capacity are aligned, in order to make global cooperation more agile, intentional, and resilient.

About the Role

Weโ€™re looking for a Product Designer who wants to shape tools that serve public sector teams with real-world impact. From the clarity of managing an official event to the nuance of reporting verified local insights, youโ€™ll help create intuitive, accessible experiences that make a difference for users navigating global postings and institutional transitions.

This is a part-time (10โ€“20 hrs/week) equity-based role, ideally suited for someone based in or available to work within Central European Time (CET). Our internal calls are spread out between 09:00 and 18:00 CET, so some availability during those hours is important. Youโ€™ll work closely with engineering, product, and strategy to design experiences that are both functional and human-centered, reflecting the complexity and importance of global public service.

Please note that weโ€™re in the process of updating our website to better reflect our evolving product direction.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Systems Design

  • Design intuitive interfaces for tools like event planning, contact segmentation, and structured reporting used by embassies and ministries.
  • Break down complex diplomatic workflows into clean, scalable design patterns that serve users with diverse levels of digital fluency.
  • Translate policy-heavy or administrative tasks into clear, usable interfaces that reduce friction and improve operational clarity.

Design Strategy & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner with product, engineering, and strategy teams to define features from concept to launch โ€” with a focus on simplicity, trust, and usability.
  • Contribute to product planning by identifying UX priorities, proposing flows, and advocating for thoughtful trade-offs during implementation.
  • Translate strategic goals (e.g. support cross-posting transitions, improve continuity of reporting) into design decisions that align with user needs.

UI/UX Design & Prototyping

  • Create low- and high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma.
  • Define edge cases, screen states, and microinteractions that reflect real-world usage in diplomatic environments (e.g. layered approval flows, secure file-sharing, segmented visibility).
  • Conduct basic user testing or feedback sessions and iterate quickly based on insights.

Design System Development

  • Help build and maintain a modular design system that ensures consistency across tools, while remaining flexible to varied user scenarios.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure your designs are implemented faithfully and responsively across web and mobile formats.
  • Own visual language updates over time, ensuring balance between institutional credibility and approachability.

Accessibility, Trust & Security Mindset

  • Ensure the UI is accessible, readable, and functional in low-bandwidth or multilingual environments.
  • Embed trust into the visual experience, designing for verified content, permission-based views, and user confidence.
  • Think critically about what transparency and discretion mean in a public-sector context, and reflect that in how information is displayed.

Culture of Quality & Learning

  • Participate in sprint reviews, internal retros, and async feedback loops.
  • Contribute to internal documentation and design libraries for team-wide visibility.
  • Stay curious about the contexts our users operate in โ€” and bring that curiosity into design explorations.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of product or UX/UI design experience, ideally in a startup or fast-moving environment.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design, wireframes, flows, and visual interfaces.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools.
  • Experience designing responsive web and/or mobile platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems.
  • Familiarity with front-end engineering workflows (especially React/Next.js).
  • Understanding of public sector operations, government workflows, or diplomatic contexts.
  • Experience working across time zones and in intercultural environments.

Why Join Nvoye?
  • Mission-Aligned Work: Design tools that help ministries and embassies work smarter, connect better, and serve more effectively.
  • Creative Leadership: Shape the design direction of a product from the ground up.
  • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere, with some overlap in CET hours.
  • Globally Minded Team: Join a thoughtful, mission-driven group that values clarity, nuance, and collaboration.
  • Equity-Based Role: This is an equity-only opportunity (for now), ideal for someone excited to build the future of a public sector platform with lasting impact.
