DESCRIPTION
We're seeking a Technical Product Manager to own the roadmap and strategy for the Mailjet API and its core backend capabilities. Partnering closely with the backend engineering team, you'll be responsible for evolving the API in alignment with platform needs, product requirements, and industry standards. Your focus will be on maintaining and extending the API functionality that underpins the entire Mailjet platform, enabling feature development, supporting integrations, and serving customer use cases across both UI and API-based workflows.
As the subject matter expert for the Mailjet API, you'll work closely with engineering, integrations, and customer-facing teams to shape future platform capabilities. This role requires strong technical fluency, systems thinking, and comfort operating on the less visible side of the product, where backend changes and platform decisions quietly power everything customers rely on. You'll also maintain clear and accurate API documentation and coordinate the backend initiatives to ensures the API remains a stable and extensible foundation for the broader Mailjet ecosystem.
- Product Strategy & Vision: Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Mailjet API and core platform capabilities.
- Requirements & Prioritization: Translate business needs, customer feedback, and technical constraints into a prioritized backlog, making clear decisions based on customer impact, technical feasibility, platform health, and strategic objectives.
- Execution & Delivery: Lead API features and platform initiatives through the full lifecycle, from discovery and specification to rollout and adoption, by partnering closely with engineering and collaborating with product managers across applications and integrations.
- Technical Ownership: Own the evolution and maintenance of the API surface, including its versioning strategy and backward compatibility, with a strong focus on long-term reliability, scalability, and stability.
- Communication & Subject Matter Expertise: Clearly communicate product strategy, tradeoffs, and delivery progress to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership. Serve as the subject matter expert for the API, driving alignment across internal teams while also representing the product externally with customers, partners, and at industry events.
- Documentation & Tooling: Oversee the creation and maintenance of clear API documentation and language wrappers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with platform capabilities.
- Data & Metrics: Define and track the success metrics related to API usage, performance, reliability, and adoption to guide product decisions and report on progress.

REQUIREMENTS
- 2+ years of product management experience in a SaaS environment, with exposure to technical or platform focused products.
- Strong understanding of APIs, backend systems, and technical documentation.
- Ability to break down complex backend or platform problems into clear, actionable product requirements and drive projects with distributed engineering teams.
- Data driven mindset with experience using metrics to inform product decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and product strategy to diverse audiences.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
