The Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA.
Our Elkton, Maryland location is seeking a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Manager to lead our Machine Shop and support our Metal Parts Inspection teams. The candidate will be responsible for machinists, and oversight of other operations on the 2nd shift as needed. This position will lead 5-12 people. The supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that scheduled work is completed safely, on time, and within budget. Other responsibilities will include ensuring that all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are being followed.
Basic Requirements
- 8-10 years of working experience in a machine shop and a good understanding of CNC and conventional machines
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
- Proficient in Microsoft office
- Must be a self-starter and possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner
- Demonstrated process improvement experience and knowledge of our Lean Performance Enterprise System (PES) tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Must have past experience in estimating machining hours and identifying rough and finish machine processes.
- Able to obtain a Secret Clearance, which US citizenship is a requirement

- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5 axis machining experience
- Additive Manufacturing experience
- Familiar with ISO 9001 standards and requirements
- Understanding of SPC
- Active secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,400.00 - $143,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
