Sr. Network Security Engineer – Remote
Location: Fully Remote (East Coast preferred)
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (1-hour lunch)
Hours: 40 hours/week | No overtime or weekend work
Contract Duration: 1-year initial contract with potential for extension or conversion
Interview Process: Single 30-minute interview via Microsoft Teams
Role Summary
The Sr. Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting enterprise network security solutions. This role focuses on protecting enterprise infrastructure through Zero Trust architectures, firewall technologies, cloud security, DLP, and threat detection platforms. The engineer will work closely with security, infrastructure, and risk teams to ensure strong security posture, compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network and cloud security solutions
- Review, test, and deploy security technologies including:
- Email Security (Proofpoint, Mimecast, Barracuda, etc.)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) – MS Purview, CASB, Conditional Access
- Public Cloud Security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions (Zscaler, Prisma Access, Axis)
- DDoS and WAF solutions (Cloudflare, Cloud Armor, Silverline)
- Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and Network Detection & Response tools
- Assess and document network security architecture and recommend improvements based on best practices
- Define, implement, and review security policies and access controls
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Apply Zero Trust principles to secure access to enterprise resources
- Create and maintain security baselines for system hardening
- Automate security and infrastructure tasks using IaC and scripting tools
- Support audits, compliance, and enterprise risk initiatives
- Maintain detailed documentation for all security operations and configurations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver security initiatives

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Network Security Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Enterprise firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF/DDoS, and ZTNA
- Public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- DLP solutions (MS Purview, CASB, Conditional Access)
- Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing)
- Experience defining and enforcing security policies
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, OWASP)
- Understanding of SSL/TLS, PKI, and certificate management
- Experience automating security tasks using tools such as:
- PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Regex, Chef, or Puppet (preferred)
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
