Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days onsite; up to 5 days onsite during deployments or critical events)
Contract Duration: 12+ Months
Pay: 55-60 an hr on W2
The Cybersecurity Analyst role focuses on day-to-day next-generation firewall administration, support, and operations within a large enterprise environment. This position supports ongoing cybersecurity operations while also contributing to project-based initiatives, incident response, compliance activities, and continuous security optimization.
Candidates with a network administration or network engineering background who are transitioning into cybersecurity are strongly encouraged to apply. This role offers hands-on exposure to enterprise security infrastructure, compliance-driven operations, and real-world incident response.
Key Responsibilities
Firewall Operations & Security Administration
- Perform day-to-day firewall policy administration and maintenance.
- Configure, install, upgrade, and maintain security hardware and firewall platforms.
- Deploy firewall code upgrades and support platform lifecycle activities.
- Analyze firewall traffic and security logs to identify risks, anomalies, and performance issues.
- Optimize firewall policies while balancing business requirements and security controls.
- Support enterprise security framework standards and enforcement.
Incident Response & Operational Support
- Respond to security incidents and service disruptions in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in investigation and troubleshooting efforts during outages or cyber events.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide increased availability during:
- Cyber incidents
- Severe weather events
- Major operational disruptions
- Adhere strictly to Change Management processes and documentation requirements.

Compliance, Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security infrastructure, changes, and procedures.
- Document all work performed according to operational and compliance standards.
- Participate in cybersecurity projects and cross-functional initiatives with IT and business teams.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand, apply, and enforce security requirements.
- Contribute to team knowledge bases and operational runbooks.
- Represent the IT Security organization professionally when engaging with business partners and IT teams.
Specialized Focus (Role Variant)
Some assignments under this role may focus primarily on NERC CIP compliance, supporting regulatory-driven cybersecurity controls, documentation, and audit readiness within critical infrastructure environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience administering next-generation firewalls
- General networking knowledge and troubleshooting experience
- Understanding of TCP/IP communications and common protocols, including:
- DNS
- DHCP
- HTTP
- SMB
- Experience analyzing network traffic and security logs
- Working knowledge of NAT concepts and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale networks
- Familiarity with Data Center environments
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to team success and operational excellence

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls
- Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewalls
- Palo Alto PCCET or PCNSA certification
- Cisco CCNA
- Cisco DevNet Associate
- CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+
- Other relevant cybersecurity or networking certifications
