Job Description

Techmunity are exclusively hiring a Senior Data Engineer for a fast-growing London startup in the hospitality tech space.

They’re building an AI-driven platform that powers back-of-house operations for coffee shops and quick-service restaurants. The product is already live with brands like Blank Street and Pret-a-Manger.

As the platform scales, it is generating large volumes of operational data, from inventory and staffing to production speed and demand patterns. This role exists to turn that data into a core strategic asset.

As Senior Data Engineer, you will own the data layer end to end. You will define how data is modelled, moved, validated and exposed across the business. This is a long-term, foundational hire rather than a short-term build-out.

You won’t just be setting up pipelines. You’ll be designing a data architecture that supports analytics today and AI-driven use cases in the future.

The DevOps team manages cloud infrastructure. You will own the logic, structure and flow of the data itself, deciding how it scales, how it stays reliable, and how it is prepared for advanced analytics and AI.

What you’ll be doing

• Own the data warehouse and core models, defining how the business uses data

• Build and maintain reliable ELT pipelines in Python and SQL as the product evolves

• Design clean, well-structured tables for reporting, product analytics and AI use cases

• Put testing, monitoring and data quality checks in place so teams trust the numbers

• Partner closely with the Senior AI Engineer to supply datasets for forecasting and future agentic workflows

What they’re looking for

• A senior data engineer who has owned a production data stack end to end

• Strong SQL and data modelling experience (dimensional modelling, star schema, Kimball)

• Hands-on Python, plus experience with dbt and an orchestrator such as Airflow or Dagster

• Someone who enjoys shaping long-term architecture and writing the code to support it

• Comfortable working closely with product and engineering in a fast-moving startup

Salary is £80,000 to £100,000 plus equity. Hybrid working, four days per week in the Holborn office. VISA sponsorship available.

If you want to build the data backbone for a product used by major coffee chains and play a key role in scaling a high-growth team, message me or email reuben@techmunity.io.
