About The Role

We are seeking an experienced AWS Network Engineer to join our team supporting a critical federal government program. This fully remote role offers an opportunity to work on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud network architectures within AWS. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with AWS networking services, a security-first approach, and prior experience working in highly regulated or cleared environments. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity, security, and performance of mission-critical cloud infrastructure, supporting national security objectives.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an active Top Secret (TS) clearance that is current and transferable. A minimum of five years of professional experience in network engineering is required, with at least two years dedicated to AWS cloud networking. Candidates should demonstrate deep technical expertise in designing and managing AWS VPCs, routing, VPNs, Direct Connect, and load balancers. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, firewalls, and security controls is essential. Preferred qualifications include AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, Advanced Networking, or Security, along with experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), zero-trust security models, and container networking (EKS, ECS). Prior experience supporting DoD or intelligence community projects is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The AWS Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining secure AWS network architectures, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, and transit gateways. They will implement and manage hybrid connectivity solutions such as VPNs and AWS Direct Connect to facilitate secure on-premise and cloud integration. The role involves configuring and managing AWS networking services like VPC peering, Network Load Balancers, Route 53, and PrivateLink to optimize network performance and security.

Ensuring compliance with federal and DoD security standards such as NIST, FedRAMP, and STIGs is critical. The engineer will support network segmentation, traffic flow optimization, and high availability across multiple AWS accounts. Collaboration with security, DevOps, and infrastructure teams is essential to integrate networking into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code workflows. Troubleshooting complex network issues related to performance, latency, and connectivity will be a key part of daily responsibilities. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to documentation, network diagrams, and operational runbooks to ensure ongoing operational excellence.

Benefits

Joining our team offers numerous benefits, including the flexibility of a fully remote work environment supporting high-impact federal missions. The role provides the opportunity to work with modern AWS architectures at scale, contributing to national security initiatives.
