Responsible for network capacity augmentation as we grow
Proactively engage and effectively communicate with multiple parties during the execution of changes or complex troubleshooting
Work efficiently in the globally distributed remote working environment
Perform network device code upgrades, deployments, decommissions, and RMAs across the globe either manually or via automation tools
Coordinate with external vendors and internal Data Center and Ops teams for network deployment
Perform troubleshooting and resolving network issues in response to incidents in given SLA time
Triaging and remediating network security vulnerability items

Job Description


We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer for a large, global B2B Software company. In this role, you will actively participate in the cloud networking team, handling all proactive aspects of network deployment and orchestration. You will partner with project and program managers to meet overall timelines and resolve issues.

This is a 12-month project (Extension Possible), 40 hours per week, remote role in the US.

This is a W2 employee of Stage 4 Solutions. Health benefits and 401K are offered.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a business-critical public cloud infrastructure around the world.
  • Actively participate in the cloud networking team, handling all proactive aspects of network deployment and orchestration.
  • Partner with project and program managers to meet overall timelines and resolution of issues.
  • Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in the trouble-ticketing system.
  • Review, consult, and prepare for planned change introduction to the production environment.

  • You will be using Ansible, Python modules, and other in-house automation tools to perform the deployments and troubleshooting.

Sample first 6-month deliverables

  • Quickly integrate into the environment and gain a solid understanding of network architecture, organization, and processes/procedures.
  • Deploy, decom, and migrate capacity racks/networks into a datacenter based on demand.
  • Demonstrate the technical expertise and participate/contribute to different meetings with stakeholders for the various deployment projects.
  • Understanding of on-platform-based orchestration, toolings, and workflows.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, focusing on internet and datacenter operations, and 4+ years of experience in network automation.
  • Knowledge of scripting (especially related to Cisco, Juniper, Linux-based devices), Ansible, Python, Terraform, or Go is extremely valuable.
  • Automation-focused mindset and ability to learn fast.
  • Possess a solid understanding of and have experience with most of the following network technologies: 802.1q, HSRP/VRRP, OSPF, ISIS, MCLAG, BGP, BFD, NAT, ACLs, IPSEC, and SNMP. Knowledge of MPLS is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge and familiarity with Juniper's Junos, Cisco IOS, Cumulus (Linux), and Rest API are considered a plus.
  • Linux/Unix basic system administration and troubleshooting knowledge are plus.
  • The candidate should have a solid foundation in networking, including routing, switching, security, and load balancing.
  • Passion for customer experiences and focus on delivering high-quality support.
  • Strong communication skills and empathy for customers.
  • Ability to learn new technology in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): using DevOps, Bitbucket, GitHub.
