The Business Intelligence Report Developer Intern will help design, build, and validate Power BI reports and datasets that deliver actionable insights to the business. You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and IT, learning BI development standards, data governance, and our request intake process while contributing real value on priority reporting use cases. This internship also offers exposure to Microsoft Fabric, as our team transitions to this unified analytics platform.
What You’ll Do
- Build reports & dashboards: Develop Power BI reports/dashboards aligned to business needs; write basic DAX measures; apply visualization best practices.
- Model & prepare data: Assist with dataset creation, dataflows, and transformations using Power Query.
- Support Fabric transition: Participate in early adoption tasks such as migrating datasets, validating pipelines, and documenting Fabric workspace standards.
- Follow governance: Triage report requests via Zendesk; adhere to BI governance (certification, workspace standards, documentation).
- Validate and QA: Perform data validation, reconcile figures with source systems, and document testing results.
- Document work: Maintain data dictionaries and business glossaries for transparency and reuse.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Translate requirements into report specs; demo deliverables; incorporate feedback.
- Learn and grow: Participate in BI team trainings on Power BI and Fabric practices; leverage recommended resources.

- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Technical skills: Foundational experience with Power BI (or similar BI tool), basic SQL, and data visualization principles.
- Soft skills: Curious, analytical, organized; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Example Projects
- Convert a legacy KPI view into a certified Power BI report with documented semantic model and RLS.
- Build an operational dashboard with slicers and navigation for end users; publish to the appropriate workspace.
- Assist with migrating a Power BI dataset into Fabric and validate pipeline performance.
- Partner with Finance on daily/weekly sales checks—execute validation steps and capture exceptions.
