Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Lab Design Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This leadership role is located in Oklahoma City, OK and Tinker Air Force Base.
As a leader in the Engineering Design Center and Lab Operations organization, you will oversee a team of professionals who are actively developing custom testing solutions and specialized support equipment for the B-2 Stealth Bomber and other platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the staffing profile for a hardware design team of approx. 10-15 engineers and technical staff
- Direct all phases of engineering design projects from proposal through test and delivery
- Identify, mitigate, and manage technical risks
- Manage project schedule and technical performance
- Participate in basis of estimate development & contract proposals
- Work with multiple teams and cross-functional departments to achieve successful outcomes
- Implement best practices/continuous improvement initiatives to gain additional efficiencies and cost savings throughout contract/product lifecycle
- Develop customer relationships and customer intimacy
- Own and lead improvements across employee engagement, hiring, professional development, training, and retention of top talent
- Interface with all levels of leadership to meet or exceed performance for all program deliverables
- Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and staff

Basic Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in aerospace and/or defense, or a Master’s degree and 7 years of related professional/military experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance, with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
- Must have the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
- Must have experience in one of the following disciplines: Design Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, and/or Project Management related functions
- Must have experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field
- Active Top Secret clearance
- Active Program clearance
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
- Previous functional management experience leading a team of engineers for at least 1 year or more
- Experience as a IPT Lead, RE, or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution
- Working knowledge of Earned Value, with the ability to build milestone schedules for execution purposes
- Experience in Nuclear Surety
- Experience with HW/SW Integration
- Experience in an Agile development environment
- Experience in Instrumentation or Avionics systems
- Experience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Print design & technologies
- Experience using CAD tools and PLM systems

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
