Senior Decision Scientist


Job Location: Burlingame, CA or New York, NY

Note: This position is specifically located in either Burlingame, CA or New York, NY and requires onsite availability. If you are not local, we will provide relocation.

Position Overview:


As the retail landscape evolves rapidly with the rise of next-gen wearable technologies, the ability to make data-driven decisions has become more critical than ever. We are seeking a highly analytical and business-savvy senior decision scientist to join our Data Science organization, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our retail strategy.


This is a techno-functional role that requires a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder management. You will work at the intersection of data science and business operations, partnering closely with sales leaders, retail account managers, product teams, and marketing strategists to uncover insights that drive performance across our retail channels.


Your work will directly influence how we sell our next-generation wearable products, whether through physical retail stores, e-commerce platforms, or omnichannel experiences. You will be responsible to support the leadership to identify growth opportunities, optimize the sales funnel, and enabling leadership and make informed decisions based on robust data analysis. Key Responsibilities:


  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track KPIs and provide real-time visibility into sales performance.
  • Apply quantitative analysis, and visualization to uncover insights across the retail sales funnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, retail operations, marketing, and product to define high-impact use cases and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze retail performance metrics, including store-level sales, conversion rates, inventory turnover, and customer segmentation.
  • Identify and evaluate growth levels such as pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, and channel performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytics processes through automation, tooling enhancements, and best practices.


Must-Have Skills:


  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of retail operations, consumer sales, and omnichannel strategies. Familiarity with wearable tech products and their sales dynamics is a plus.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in google sheet, SQL and Python for data analysis and build automation; experience with relational databases, statistical methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, forecasting, causal inference).
  • Google sheet automation experience is a must
  • Business Acumen: Ability to connect data insights to business strategy and communicate recommendations effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize complex data into compelling narratives for executive audiences.
  • Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholder relationships.


Good to Have Skills:


  • Understanding of supply chain analytics and inventory optimization.
  • Exposure to machine learning models for sales forecasting or customer segmentation.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments or with consumer electronics.


Pay:


The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $110,000 - $145,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.


Benefits:


As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plan in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
