Job Description:
This role is based onsite at the Demonware Vancouver office, following the team’s hybrid schedule (4 days per week in office). A relocation package may be available depending on eligibility.

Co-op Program Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program
- Expected graduation between September 2026 and May 2028

Software Engineering
Software Engineering Co-ops have touched many aspects of Demonware. Needs may shift across each team, but co-ops in the past have helped build multiplayer features, develop core backend systems, and design tools for largescale distributed services. They gain hands-on experience working with Kubernetes infrastructure, automation frameworks, and scalable data pipelines. Throughout the co-op, they collaborate in design discussions, perform root cause analysis, and automate workflows to improve reliability, performance, and developer experience.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of Python, C++, and/or Java
- Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
- Familiarity with Linux and source control (Git preferred)
- Experience with SQL-based databases (MySQL preferred)
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP, UDP, HTTP)
- Familiarity with Kubernetes
- Multi-platform development experience
- Exposure to security and scalability concepts
- Experience building RESTful services or web applications

Co-ops work with modern big data technologies to develop APIs and microservices that transform and deliver critical insights. They collaborate closely with data engineers who oversee instrumentation, ingestion, processing, and visualization, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of large-scale data systems. Along the way, they also create automation tools to streamline workflows and improve overall efficiency.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of Python, Java and/or Kotlin
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and basic computer science fundamentals
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments and Git (any source control is fine)
- Exposure to SQL (Databricks, Spark SQL, or similar)
- Interest in or exposure to distributed systems or big‑data processing (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Flink)
- Experience with containerization or cloud‑native tooling (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to data pipelines, streaming architectures, or ETL frameworks
- Familiarity with privacy concepts, data governance, or secure‑by‑design approaches
- Experience with Scala or PySpark in analytics or processing contexts
- Exposure to observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing)

The standard base pay range for this role is $45,202.50 - $95,655.00 CAD. These values reflect the expected annualized base pay range of new hires in British Columbia, Canada. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
